From May to September, the Emperor Virgo surf charter will be deployed for 10 Night Central Atoll Trips. The charters will start in Male and finish in Male, giving the trip more flexibility to chase waves around the Central Atolls and Male Atolls. There are 6 atolls between Male and Laamu and the conditions can now dictate where you surf and not a domestic flight itinerary. Your expert guide will find you an abundance of surf East and West of the Central Atolls with the option of a sneaky session in the North Male Atolls to finish the trip.

MV Emperor Virgo

Accommodating up to 16 guests (we recommend only 12 surfers), all 9 Emperor Virgo cabins have double/twin beds, plus one cabin can be booked as a triple with a small single bed. All cabins feature private ensuites and air-conditioning. Upper and main deck cabins have large windows giving amazing views to the ocean and islands beyond.

Decorated in light wood and contemporary style, the main deck has a large saloon with comfy sofas. The bar is fully licensed so you can enjoy your favourite beverage as the sun dips below the horizon. The upper deck has loungers for sun bathing and just kicking back.

Non-surfing partners are welcome and can spend a relaxing holiday swimming, snorkelling or simply sunbathing and chilling on the expansive sun deck.

Surf Dhoni

Emperor Virgo will also have a dhoni support vessel for the season. So not only will guests be cruising the Central Atolls in style aboard Virgo but they will have a dhoni following them around making it a great option for non-surfing couples, fishing trips or splitting the surfers into two groups.

The Surf

The Central Atolls are not as frequented as the northern Atolls and World Surfaris has been at the forefront of discovery in this region since the late 90's.

This region of the Maldives experiences a similar surf season to Indonesia. The prime time to be in this region is May to September and the Emperor Virgo will be in the Central Atolls the whole time to hunt down the South swells that are frequent from South East or South West over this period. The winds tend to be light and usually with some west in the angle over this time which is favourable for offshore conditions at most breaks. The surf generally ranges in size from 2-8 feet, however bigger days can been experienced from time to time. A great variety of reef breaks exist throughout these atolls from long mellow walls to more intense hollow waves. You will be surfed out after 10 nights/9 days surfing on our Emperor Virgo Central Atolls trip.

Surf Guides

Surf Guide "Giorgio Rollo" 10 years working in the Maldives

Giorgio was born in Peru, has an Italian passport, has lived in Mexico and has spent 10 years working in the Maldives. He speaks five languages fluently; Spanish, Italian, French, English and Portuguese. Giorgio is an acclaimed surfing and diving instructor, photographer and videographer. His knowledge of all the surfing areas is second to none and his photos have been published in National Geographic and many other publications. Non-Surf activities

The fishing is some of the best in the world and the amazing variety of species will keep the hardcore angler stoked and the novice angler hooked! The crew of the Emperor Virgo love fishing and are happy to assist. Keen fishermen should take their own game rod, reel and lures!

The Maldives is one of the prettiest island paradises in the world and the Central Atolls offer you the opportunity to witness remote locations that few tourists have ever seen. Watching the sunset over the islands whilst sipping on a cold beer after a rewarding days surfing with just you and your mates is as good it gets!

Bring your SUP and cruise around in the beautiful lagoons swarming with all kinds of marine life or take a snorkel set and dive in at one of the popular reefs nearby. Whenever you aren't surfing, there is plenty to see and do.
